May your 2019 be blessed with good health and provisions to assist you along your life path in a good way.
If you are familiar with the site, you’ll have noticed changes over the years. Experimentations. Format changes. Service changes. We added a blog almost four years ago. In 2017, I began asking other astrologers to submit articles in return for promoting them and their books and services. Mark Jones, Daniel Fiverson, Sabrina Monarch and Steven Forrest contributed. Thank you to them.
In 2018, I stopped writing as much and certainly reduced the longer detail-orient articles about astrology. A friend recommended using Instagram as a way to connect. That has been great fun and I was able to add a feed to the home page.
A Book of the Month feature was added, which was great fun. Sharing those books, which have helped me to improve my own astrology skills, kept me in touch with other views and techniques. Non-astrology books, those which have taught me about beauty, psychology, philosophy, spirituality and more, felt important to share, too, because, for me anyway, astrology cannot be used effectively without a well-rounded education. What else?
December’s Book of the Month has been a challenging read! It still feels worth putting on the list though I’m only half way through.
I also made an affiliate connection with Astrology University and added a few links to classes it offers at Study Astrology. More to come as time permits. If you are drawn to this symbolic language, then get a good foundation in it. Learn the rules. Learn the symbols. Learn the meaning of phases. Practice. Ask for dreams about planets or signs, said my first astrology teacher, Jeffrey Green.
Forget about generic ‘bad’ and ‘good’ designations of the planets or zodiac signs. Incorporate the bigger picture. Find usefulness and evolutionary impulses in any transit or progression. Don’t blame them for hard times. Use them to strengthen character and live a good life in a way that suits you and your natural born gifts and talents. That’s just my suggestion. Try it for yourself. Now, off the preacher’s stand (Jupiter in Sagittarius took over there).
Back to the website. Again our most popularly read articles on the site have been about Tissue Salts and Astrology.
The Phase Calculator, however, has been the biggest success over time. I am quite proud of it. It is going to need an upgrade in a year or two, else it will stop working, but if there is time, I’ll work on it in 2019.
I’m grateful if any of the website material has been useful. Does this sound like Earth signs are resonating with me — “useful”. Uranus in Taurus, but mostly all that Capricorn — Pluto, Saturn, the South Node has wrapped me in a practical space… (and my progressed Moon in Capricorn) and by the end of 2019 Jupiter joins the Earth mix of celestial bodies for more emphasis.
Astrologers have been talking about this upcoming time frame for a long time, but, no doubt, there will be more and more discussion. Recently, OPA, the Organization for Professional Astrology, put on a free webinar for its members about 2019 and leading into 2020. I highly suggest joining that organization even if just for the free talks and especially for training and information if you want to become a professional or are. It’s very reasonably priced.
2019, will bring changes, too, for Scorpio Moon Astrology. I’ve prepared for them by putting together a page with the hit list of top transits in 2019. It has more details than previous years. A 2019 Retrogrades post is available too. I suspect there will be much less added to the website this year. I’m still debating about whether I can keep up with a book of the month. The Current Celestial Climate will continue, because I have been able to pre-schedule it.
My own life and focus has changed quite dramatically. In the last year I had to become practical, real and make some decisions. Well, what really happened, is I saw the writing on the wall more clearly about how self-employment, for me, was not do-able anymore, if I wanted to enrich my life in other ways. How can I be a good and helpful astrologer without enlarging my experience of the world?
I finally found a solution, which I had been unable to see before 2018. Call it a Uranus transit over my Ascendant, then moving into Taurus, aka security land. In 2018, I finally made a choice, with the help of some sympathetic and generous people and a local organization, to enter a new profession, and am currently studying for that.
That means my focus is redirected until further notice. Though my heart tugs at this website, my baby, to keep it up, improve it, and make is ‘usefull’ to the best of my ability. I think for the time being though, the website’s heart beat has slowed down.
There are so many astrological voices sharing these days.. new ones, youthful ones and other’s coming into their own. It’s quite wonderful to see. Seek them out. Learn. Discern. I sometimes wonder whether they are so visible because I’m an astrologer and notice, or whether they are making a greater impact in the world than in other times.
If I could advise you of anything in 2019, it is to keep a watchful eye, don’t get complacent, and don’t believe everything without some objectivity. Do enjoy though. Take time for fun and relaxation. Oh, and of course, it goes without saying, love each other.
Peace and love, Shawn
