An exuberant, flashy, individualist, social New Moon in Leo.
The last Full Moon, there was a lot of talk about Uranus and Aquarius. Well, guess what, the New Moon is in Leo and Uranus continues to be active with a trine to the Sun, Moon and Venus.
This New Moon is a continuation of some of the last Full Moon in Aquarius’ intention to express Self in a unique, individualistic way. It is ok and good to be exactly who you are. Let your freak flag fly. (Is that still an effective expression? It just popped out.) Uranus in Aries is both the fire under our you-know-whats and the lightning bolt of inspired vision. The Sun and Moon in Leo are the constant burning fire element that encourages us to find and display our specialness, our radiance.
Feeling pretty special already? The gifts of Leo come from Source Energy. This is a splendid time to consider Kim Marie of evolutionaryastrology.net’s mantra for Leo. “I align my Will with Divine Will.”
In this trine configuration with Uranus, it is easier to embrace spontaneity, which supports Leo’s focus on creative SELF-realization. There is acceptance in the heavens and on this Earth of the unique flame we all carry within and are urged to express.
Leo represents the Heart.
With Venus so close to the Sun and Moon, Love is further amplified. The question is, will the Leo Sun’s rays be so strong on Venus Retrograde that love burns out? If so, can love turn to friendship (trine Uranus). Or will the Sun strengthen Venus during this reflective period where personal values are being reconsidered?
However it directs itself, toward self or others, Leo is lavish. With this generous tone, the possible New Moon intentions are endless. If fun, play and creativity is rare, make this a month where it becomes frequent. If there is tendency to be too self-involved, it’s a great time to see that clearly and begin a new pattern. If there are others around who struggle with acceptance, it could be an intention to be a cheer leader and bring in the cheer squad for someone. If that person is us, the intention could be to reach out to one of those friends who resonate the way we would like to.
Bask in the luminosity of someone who stands in full Leo glory. 103 years ago, when I could barely speak to a mouse, and was starting some spiritual lessons, my teacher wrote something similar to “Fake it, till you make it.” He also wrote to hang out with people we want to be like. If the shine is gone, hang out with shiny people. Paraphrasing.
The fire burns strong in this New Moon chart. Let’s not forget Mars in Leo having recently been strengthened by a trine to Saturn. Mars is passionate and extra courageous in Leo.
What will keep the flame from burning out? And it could, because this New Moon chart has no Air element. (There are four elements: fire, earth, air and water. Each sign is assigned an element.)
Two thoughts.
1. Get outside and breathe. Without air, the fire will die. (I wonder if no Air in a chart, could be good for forest fire areas?)
2. Embrace a healthy dose of practicality. That’s where teacher, Jupiter, jumps into the picture. Jupiter entered Virgo on the 11th and we hope to see the world view taking on more of an attitude of self-improvement, more consideration of others and changing beliefs related to work ethics. It’s all good and well to recognize our divinely given talents, but then what? Virgo is the sign after Leo and provides the motivation to use our gifts in service.
In the next couple of weeks.

Leo, being the ruler of the Sun, correlates to beauty. Leo and the Sun represent the Life Force and there is nothing as beautiful as a radiant being. Still what if the natural look of a person is not radiant and openly reflects lives of loss and sadness and smiling ends up looking fake or like a mask? Venus Retrograde in Leo may bring forward issues related to radiance and beauty.
CBC aired an interview on the radio about women’s faces and the cultural expectation that women look agreeable. The interview stemmed from a fake comedy public service announcement about “Bitchy Resting Face” which commiserates with women whose faces look mean when neutral. There seems to be judgment about naturally sad or serious faces; better to cover them up with fake smiles in order to fit into the norm.
That causes wrinkles and then is good for eye cream sales. As if the Sun was not enough. That last part was not in the interview.
Let Venus trine Uranus be the ease in unconventional beauty, honesty of expression (or non-expression).
