New Moon in Sagittarius.
It is a Sagittarius New Moon.
As I pondered what I would write, I remembered a poem, my friend Barb Bell wrote back in 1987. I did not know her then. It feels good to share it and I’m honored that she was willing.
One
I am one with the world.
I am as the night and the stars,
The tiny sliver of the new moon.
I am blue as the sky,
I rush to the horizon with the clouds at my heels.
I sparkle with the morning dew and drip from the petals of the white
daisy that nestles in the grass
The blackbird that sings so shrill and sweet from the tree tops,
It is I, I sing his song so sweet.
I feel the joy of the dawn and the sadness of the setting sun.
I bask in the dust with the creatures of the earth,
And rejoice in the rain and the smell that hangs heavy in the air.
Do you not see me in the gentle stream that gurgles and babbles away?
Am I not there in the river, in the angry torrent that thunders and roars and
carries so much in its load?
Yet I am here, but as I stand, I am there too.
I am one with all things, and one with you,
And you are one with me.
Barb Bell, 1987
Sagittarius, the Archer, the Visionary, the sign that takes us into areas that involves our philosophy, our beliefs, intuitive wisdom which, when pure and not distorted through all manner of conditioning, is rooted in Natural Laws and Principles. When it is distorted we can see the “convince and convert” side of the Missionary. Luckily another side of Sagittarius is a sense of humor— big fiery entertaining one.
This may be the blessing of the New Moon. After a tension filled week with Mars reactivating Pluto and then Uranus (memories of not too long ago, 2012-early 2015), there is a blessing. Let’s start fresh.
Perhaps a New Moon intention can be: vow to reflect on what we think we know. How the truth we ‘know’ colored by family or cultural conditioning? Do we exaggerate or hold on to a belief to compensate for deeply entrenched fears? Some of those fears may be inherited from ancestors or have origins in previous lives.
What was the projection of Mars in Libra this past week? Was there passive aggressive behavior which spurred attack (with Pluto) and spontaneous combustion (with Uranus)? Just look at the news of the last week.
Or were the relationship connections healthy “give and takes” resulting in ideas that could really make a positive change? It’s easy to look at the tension of Mars opposite Uranus in the image, and think of that as negative, but that is only one kind of experience.
What if the vibrational field was modified in such a way that great leaps of insight resulted? Would the discomfort be worth it? Would it be worth doing personal healing work and raising consciousness?
Shawnsky Farmer left this message. “Venus in Scorpio is missing from this doodle, because she’s underground pulling up her fishnet stockings.”

Full Moon December 2015. Soul Astrology Drawing for a specific Day.
We can have a Sagittarian sense of humor about Venus in Scorpio. She is flirting with Neptune at the moment in a very close trine, and though it is intriguing to wonder how sweet yet tantalizing Venus might be hypnotizing the great hypnotizer Neptune, it is a trine. A passing dalliance. Still, this is an evolutionary astrology blog and we are interested in soul matters.
What does this aspect have to do with the Soul? Scorpio is deeply connected to the Soul’s Journey, specifically the emotional component of it. Where are some of our deepest feelings evoked? In the most intimate of scenarios. Scorpio knows about these. Venus in Scorpio values these moments that merge the essence of one with another.
In meeting with Neptune, who represents the beliefs of the collective and in its purest form, the highest vibration of love, Venus enters the most exquisite feeling of connectedness to the Divine.
Though the Mars/Uranus impact in this New Moon chart is in our face, reflecting on the subtlety of Venus trine Neptune may ease the tension. I may be making a big deal about this sweet short transit. My Scorpio Moon cannot resist.
It is intriguing to write about the planet that is momentarily courting Neptune and that Shawnsky mistakenly left out of the image. I saw the sketch. The skirt of a can-can dancer with one leg kicked high, and yes, with fishnets.
What if we heard the murmur from our souls and it overcame the Martian edginess, transmuting the whole New Moon picture into one of sweet awakening?
As ever, peace, Shawn
