Our spot for thoughts on the current astrological climate — and the last of this year. I wonder whether we’ll find new ways in 2018 to keep you posted on astrological matters relevant to improving the quality of your life.
Just to get you started in your prep for 2018, we’ve posted:

- Saturn in Capricorn December 19, 2017 – December 16, 2020
The BIG deal this month is Saturn’s sign change to Capricorn. Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorns (and Cardinal Rising Signs)— plan for growth and maturity in the next couple of years.
Mercury’s Retrograde during festive December is a good one for inner spiritual expansion by questioning the bottom-line. The usual reminder of patience during travels and not committing to contracts till after Mercury is direct is valid, too. See the date listing below.
December’s Moon Cycle: Decisions and Intuition
Super Full Moon in Gemini on December 3
Details: The Full Moon squares Neptune in Pisces. Mars in Libra is in Disseminating Phase with Neptune. Mercury just went retrograde on the 2nd.
Let’s put the symbols together. Gemini is an Air, or Mental sign. The symbol is the Twins. Making choices, seeing more than one option, focusing on details. The Gemini mind is active, curious and interested. So what happens with a Last Quarter Square to Neptune? Boundaries dissipate and it may be time to let go. Let go of the decisions, and listen to God, Spirit, or your Inner Guidance, when making a choice. Or just let the chips fall where they may. Don’t worry about it. Neptune, however, can feel so illusive that clarity, even in making the decision to not make a choice, could be confusing.
If I had to make a decision on the Full Moon, it would be to hold off on committing to any decision.
Then there is Mars and Neptune. Mars in Libra, another mental Air sign, can be wishy washy, too. One of the expressions: Let’s just make sure everyone is ok, so there is peace in the room. Overextension of helpfulness and kindness with an underlying motive to create a harmonious environment. Nothing wrong with harmony. Mix that with Neptune and the Disseminating phase which is all about giving back— spreading the good deeds. What is the downside? Loss of energy. Inappropriate giving and receiving for a few days.
Libra also is also connected to beauty and art, so mixing that with Neptune, in a Disseminating Phase, could be quite wonderful. Imagine mingling in an art gallery (or another social setting) feeling the love, the beauty, receiving the joy of a hug, many hugs.
Bottom line: An entertaining Full Moon, with a 50/50 chance of making a good or bad decision, and losing some sleep, walking away with something beautiful accidentally or because the Divine timing is right. Being told a few stories about how gorgeous you are. Hmmm, I wouldn’t sign on any dotted lines though.
New Moon in Sagittarius on December 17
Mercury will still be Retrograde in Sagittarius and the New Moon is at the Center of the Galaxy in the Milky Way. Saturn is 14 minutes (2 days in Saturn time) from changing signs to Capricorn. The New Moon is squished between Mercury and Venus on one side and Saturn on the other. Plus Chiron is square that whole mess of Sagittarius energy. What do we make of those symbols?
We know at a New Moon it is really dark outside. The moon is invisible. We wouldn’t be able to see the Center of the Galaxy. Now there is a thought. If we can’t see the Center of the Galaxy, can we hear the sound of one hand clapping on the moon? Trust your intuition, or practice using it. Trust that what you can’t see or hear is present in some vibration.
Trust may be a good theme for a Fire ceremony to start this New Moon cycle. Shaman Chiron’s influence creates enough tension to set up collective healing energy and move forward. Set the intention to expand your intuition and broaden your experiences and don’t forget about having some fun with it all!
December Book of the Month:
The Seat of the Soul by Gary Zukav
I don’t remember exactly when I went to a retreat in California with Gary Zukav and his wife Linda. Around 2002? I don’t remember for sure. I must have read his first book, The Dancing Wu Li Masters: An Overview of the New Physics, later on. Time is illusive when I think about this journey on the earth plane. This thought just led me to look at my transits during that time period and sure enough, spacey Neptune, was closing in on my Sun while Uranus was squaring Jupiter. I was ready for a turning point, ready to dissolve further onto what I was calling my spiritual path. Whew, 2002 and 2003 were really out of this world… or I was. Memories… enough now.
Now I feel every breath, every movement, every mundane act and simply being alive in this body the spiritual path. There isn’t a choice— for any of us. We’re all in it together whether consciously practicing or not.
This book jumped out at me as I was thinking about what pick for this month. It’s almost 30 years old. The 25th Anniversary book came out with a Study Guide in 2014. The book and the retreat definitely gave me something to think about and commit to, which had to do with Authenticity. Living an authentic life.
So why read this book (if you’re looking for a read)? Because it will lead you closer to knowing the truth of who you are. There are many books, many authors, many teachers. One of my personal beliefs is: Quality of life can instantly improve when just the right string of words impact us at just the right time— similar to the divine timing of astrology. That’s the case for me anyway. Probably because it is a strong belief for me. Plus, any book that has a first chapter titled Evolution is one that suits this website.
To a fulfilling, healthy, loving, fun month. Peace, Shawn
