Cancer Glyph
With each New Moon, we have an opportunity to start over, begin again, set an intention for another cycle. Ideally one would choose something manageable to take on or observe over a 29 day period. With the Moon in Cancer, which is a Cardinal sign, we might initiate habits to provide a sense of security or protection. We might choose to set our intention to nurture or be okay about receiving nurturing from someone, from the Divine, or from ourselves.
In Evolutionary Astrology, the Moon correlates to the Ego/Mind, and rules how we emotionally respond to stimulus— our modus operandi. During a Cancer New Moon we might want to consider new ways to respond. Cancer is symbolized by the crab. When is it appropriate to hide in the shell; when do we dip our toes bravely into the ocean? During a Cancer New Moon, we can cultivate an awareness of how emotional security operates in our lives.
Each New Moon (or any moon phase) has a subtext, which is reflected by the other celestial bodies in the horoscope of a Moon Phase.
Just as with the last Full Moon in Capricorn, Mars and Venus are highlighted.
Martian desires and passions, the masculine archetype, is volatile with Pluto’s influence, yet primed for a change of perspective. Venus, the feminine archetype, in preparation for her retrograde cycle, is considering commitment and boundaries during this New Moon.
The Mercury and Mars opposition to Pluto, only hours prior to the New Moon, is a strong statement. We enter this New Moon cycle during an intense state of awareness of limitations and lack of security. “Faking it till we make it” (not always a bad thing) and acting as all powerful, may create power struggles. Obsessive action, and compulsive attachment to ideas is a “feature” of this opposition. How perfect is that? The stage is set to create awareness of emotional attachment. In the all-consuming resonance of Pluto, underlies the feeling of insecurity. Mars and Mercury also make a tight Full Phase sesquiquadrate to Saturn and are motivated to change interpersonal behaviors.
Venus, the feminine archetype, and the representative of essential needs, personal resources, self-worth and partnerships, is just about to enter Virgo and in just one week change direction. She is at the 29th degree of Leo, a significant placement, showing that something is yet to complete related to the creative impulse and love needs. Her tight Full Phase Sesquiquadrate to Pluto and Last Quarter to Saturn suggest that some deep consideration must be given to interpersonal relationships, especially when it comes to sharing resources (Pluto.) Rules (Saturn) may need to be clarified, commitments reestablished or released.
Fortunately the Venus retrograde cycle that begins July 25, offers some breathing room for reflection on our essential needs, should we choose to use it that way.
The Sun and Moon are still feeling the recent First Quarter Square to Uranus. Heart and mind must evolve, wake up, and avoid return to the past, as tempting as that might be.

Uranus Glyph
Uranus has slowed down, preparing for its annual retrograde, on July 26. If you were born with celestial bodies between 16 and 20 degrees, Uranus will make a second pass over them, bringing forward ancient memories or awakening new responses.
Aries (April 5-10), Cancer (July 7-12), Libra (October 8-13) and Capricorn’s (January 5-10) will have more wake up calls and life fluctuation than most while Uranus is retrograde July 26- December 25.
Leo (August 9-13) and Sagittarius (December 8-12) also are awakening to new possibilities though less urgent and stressful.
Virgo’s will begin to progressively feel the expansion of Guru, Jupiter, in their lives. Jupiter enters Virgo August 11. Increased (or perhaps too much) energy for self-improvement. Generally YOU become bigger from the perspective of others and experience more vision and desire for adventure. This is a fabulous year for self-promotion and health improvement unless there are contraindications from other celestial bodies.
Taurus and Capricorn will also benefit greatly from Jupiter’s influence. All three are earth signs. What generally moves slowly and consistently will pick up speed or receive support from the world.
Saturn, our productive friend, and the framework of our conscious understanding of the world’s expectations, is moving slower than usual as it prepares to return to Direct motion on August 1 at 28° Scorpio 17’. (July 31-August 2 are particularly potent.)
If you were born at the end of any fixed sign (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio or Aquarius), this a most influential, peak time to review any blockages that presented themselves in early December and strategize, how to use Saturn’s energy to strengthen the necessary changes. It can be a very productive time for some. If born at the end of Cancer or Pisces, do not hesitate to engage productively in life, Saturn is supportive when responsible measures are taken.
Shared resources and intimate or business relationships, Life and Death Matters, conscious awareness of our own and others psychology is highlighted. Care for karma.
Saturn re-enters Sagittarius September 17 where lessons of authenticity begin.
