Scorpio Mooners, delight! Jupiter joins us in our beloved need for emotional depth for a whole year! If you were not born under a Scorpio Moon, the zodiac sign Scorpio is still somewhere in your birth map. You may even have some planets or angles in Scorpio. If there is little Scorpio emphasis in your birth map, well, then, you’ll surely feel it displayed and emphasized outside of you in your relations, in the media, in art, in the world.
This year I’ve mentioned a book by John O’Donohue more than once, because it has touched me so much and, as often happens, synchronistically resonates with what is happening in the heavens. As Jupiter began its descent from lovely Venusian Libra and now moves into the beauty of the deep, serious, wells of Plutonic Scorpio Land, the essays I am reading are related to Death and Dying.
“At birth the journey here creates the traveler, the invisible becomes visible. At Death, the return journey re-creates the traveler, the invisible becomes visible again.” John O’Donohue from his Beauty: The Invisible Embrace.
The traveler correlates to Jupiter. Death is part of Scorpio’s realm.
Reflecting on this quote, for me, provides comfort and reminds me that that by changing the lens of perspective, my experience of life improves.
Jupiter in Scorpio is not just about Death and Dying; however, as a Fixed Water sign, Scorpio is comfortable in the muck of difficult emotions — those which are often hidden and suppressed in the Shadows and Bowels of our Deepest Selves… Let’s just say, our Souls. Death is an emotionally uncomfortable topic thus the connection — not only connection— to Scorpio.
Jupiter enlarges matters related to the sign it travels through.

Imagine Entry into the Wells of the our Souls during Jupiter in Scorpio. Spotted Lake near Ossoyoos, BC.
We may be exposed to more Shadow than we expect this coming year. Our own and others. From a Scorpio Mooner’s perspective, it’s all for the good. Why? Because awareness of Shadow is a grand start to emotional healing, which leads to more honest and deep connection with others.
Can you imagine loving those awful, embarrassing, mean-spirited thoughts that you have about someone else much less admitting you have them? Everyone has Scorpio in the birth chart, every human has a slice of darkness ready for transformation, if only it becomes exposed — from the purist, selfless Florence Nightingale types, well-known and admired spiritual leaders to the well-educated therapists who train in the psychology of humans.
Jupiter loves a good adventure and this year it’s about being open — in a big way — to diving below the surface— and hauling out garbage, then recycling it into something that improves life. In the end, with Jupiter in Scorpio, we may even see the humor in the slime and the sewage that we hoped to keep buried.
If you were born while Jupiter was in Scorpio, think about what kind of humor you tend to laugh at more. It’s probably not the light fluffy marshmallow kind of humor. Let’s trust we’re laughing by the end of a year.

Jupiter Key Words
Jupiter is an outer planet, technically not part of our personal make-up or identification, but rather an indicator of our philosophical makeup that comes from external and inherited exposure. Jupiter, also, represents the gifts we have to share with the world, our humor — how we find relief from what troubles us.
Jupiter is another word for Guru or Teacher. We may find ourselves drawn to teachers who resonated to the sign our own Jupiter was in at our birth. During a Jupiter time, Steven Arroyo writes, “learn as much as possible from those around you” Exploring Jupiter: Astrological Key to Progress, Prosperity & Potential.

Aries Rising/Sun in Aries/Jupiter in the 8th House. Aries are ruled by Mars. Scorpio energy is also Martian. First thoughts. What about passion? If we are looking at old fashioned gender terms — what about masculine energy in your life? Taurus Rising/Sun in Taurus/Jupiter in the 7th House. Security and trust are biggies for Taurus. So is food — is this an exaggeration? Here’s a chance to change the lens of how you experience yourself by dining with a wide range of other humans your life. Freedom & Trust is required for this gastronomical journey. Yum!
Gemini Rising/Sun in Gemini/Jupiter in the 6th House. Oh my gosh, this could be a busy, busy time. Work opportunities, growth in finances arrive because of those opportunities. The trick will be trusting your intuition about the many activities you will be presented with. Which will satisfy your curiosity and your deeper self, but not wear out your brain.
Cancer Rising/Sun in Cancer/Jupiter in the 5th House. The intensity of fun, joy and a good risk. May the blessing of Jupiter give you the guts to shine. Too much of a good thing? That depends on the rest of your personal make-up. In general, whether you are in the ocean or on the beach, know that silver linings come from risking emotional sharing on the stage of life.
Leo Rising/Sun in Leo/Jupiter in the 4th House. Emotional comfort and healing can be found at hearth and home. What family mysteries can be revealed or resolved and lead to a feeling of expanded contentment and peace? What hits home this year which leads to a broader understanding of what family offers?
Virgo Rising/Sun in Virgo/Jupiter in the 3rd House. If your work or life circumstances don’t take you on a few trips and excursions, maybe your inner guide will. Make sure all the activity over the year, doesn’t put you on mental overload. So much information, and what to assimilate? Virgos continue to learn discernment. Big picture. It’s all good. Free your mind. Tell a few deep practical life stories to those who will listen.
Libra Rising/Sun in Libra/Jupiter in the 2nd House. While Jupiter traveled Libra, overall, it was a lucky year. For many Libras, it was a year of largess and recognition. The luck can continue if you don’t overdo your generosity toward significant others. What you desire can come rolling in, how you handle your desires is the lesson. If it’s money, learn about your philosophy about money. It’s a good time to consider what security means to you deep down– or your soul or God or anything you value.
Scorpio Rising/Sun in Scorpio/Jupiter in the 1st House. This is your Jupiter year! That which you (and your Soul) want to deeply experience will be brought to your attention and into your body’s core in a HUGE way. It’s doesn’t always happen. Something big will be presented — in some emotionally intense Scorpio way. Learn about what motivates you and your Soul.
Sagittarius Rising/Sun in Sagittarius/Jupiter in the 12th House. The Guru planet invades your dream world, expands knowledge about your ancestors, broadens your experience with intuition and gets down to the spiritual emotional bottom-line. Jupiter can also send a teacher (dead or alive) during this time, one who will kick your compassion for others up a notch.
Capricorn Rising/Sun in Capricorn/Jupiter in the 11th House. The 11th house is considered the luckiest house. In Scorpio we could imagine networking with other Soul Seekers, but also some good fortune on the financial front. In any case, that grounded sense you have of what is right and wrong maybe be transformed through a teacher met at a death and dying symposium.
Aquarius Rising/Sun in Aquarius/Jupiter in the 10th House. Generically speaking Aquarians are learning objectivity and are in various stages practicing individualism. Jupiter provides opportunities that come from the world in some way like through professional realms. Your status may grow. The number of trips you take on behalf of others may increase. Stay humble during this potential time of recognition, to prolong the recognition you desire. I know, you don’t care about recognition… how about prolong the freedom?
Pisces Rising/Sun in Pisces/Jupiter in the 9th House. Jupiter energy is squared for you. First hits— travel and adventure. If not actual on the road journeys, for sure, your inner world, that which contains your philosophy of life is deepened, is amplified. If you have great plans for publishing, it’s is generally a beneficial year. If you have other plans that involve the future, this is the time, to sign up for appropriate classes. Bottom line— pay attention to what is truth. No fudging.
