5th Edition with teacher & author Judith Corvin-Blackburn. This series publishes thoughts from soul-oriented practitioners, not exclusively Evolutionary Astrologers. In this way, we are promoting astrologers & healing crafts, as well as, diverse ideas.
This edition features a woman who respects and uses astrology, though is not a practicing astrologer. Judith Corvin-Blackburn is involved in healing work as a Transpersonal Psychologist in the United States. She teaches and is the author of Empowering the Spirit: A Process to Activate Your Soul Potential.
I met Judith in the late 1990’s and spent several years going to a weekly group made of women who could be described as Seekers before moving to Canada. Judith facilitated our circle. The memories of that time warms my heart.
Welcome, Judith Corvin-Blackburn, to Scorpio Moon Asks.
How would you approach a client who is having trouble coping with what is going on in the world? Alternatively, could you say something about ‘what is going on in the world’? Why does the climate seem more troubling now than previously?
The current political situation in the United States has been a huge wake-up call, and I pray that people are waking up. Fear, anger and hate have now come out of the shadows, and while their faces are pretty unattractive, we cannot heal anything when it is hidden.

Healing occurs when Shadow elements are revealed.
While there are many wonderful things going on behind the scenes, the resistance to positive change is also strong, both from those of the power elite, and from those whose fear and sense of powerlessness, and therefore anger, have been influenced and activated by the elite’s public ‘spin.’
This ‘spin’ has encouraged people to believe policies, which would in fact help them and help us all, such as universal health care, are somehow wrong and evil. It, also, blames immigrants and people of color for their own sense of alienation and discontent.
This, of course, is quite a clever manipulation done by those who hope this part of the populace will remain in the dark about what is really going on by deflecting the anger of the masses onto more vulnerable groups. In turn, many progressives have become enamored with their sense of outrage which, sadly, only feeds the forces of separation, polarization and hate.
Since I understand that we are truly all One, I had to quickly move through my own personal biases because I know whatever I see as unacceptable on the outside, also resides at some point within my own psyche. My job is to find those places, meet them with compassion and neutralize them.
The more of us who are doing this, the more quickly these collective shadow pieces can be integrated and begin to transform.
I think the climate seems more troubling now, because the intensity of energy on the planet keeps escalating, as does the public awareness of something being gravely wrong. We are so polarized on how best to resolve this which feeds the chaos even more.
With clients, I typically suggest:
- Stop watching TV and get information from less sensationalist sources.
- Look to see what personal wounds and fears are being activated. Work to heal and calm these.
- Learn to neutralize the polarities within and in the world. For instance, for those in the U.S., if they are furious about what is going on, find a positive way to express and release that anger, then move into a place of compassion and emotional neutralization. Do not to step back from expressing opinions and concerns, but do it from a place of love rather than anger and fear.
- Sort through ways to contribute to positive change through sharing unique gifts and begin to put this into action.
What inspires you about the current world climate?
I’m an optimist. On most days, I believe our planet is going to make it through this. We are in a very profound transition. More and more people are waking up and stepping into a healthier, higher frequency way of living and relating. I also see people on both sides of the spectrum want many of the same things, but have no forum yet to dialogue how to put opposing concerns into positive action.

Waking up to creative solutions.
What women are doing in Africa and other less technologically developed countries to find creative solutions to climate change and economic sustainability is very exciting to me.
Much of Europe is already moving quickly on cleaning up the pollution on the planet, using sustainable energy, more sustainable farming practices etc.
I heard that Norway is so good at making alternative energy from their garbage they ran out of garbage and actually had to import some. It is these kind of things that inspires me.
Is there a practice or something you personally do, that you want to share, for easing the pain of a troubled Soul?
I love the practice of ho’ opono pono. Whenever I feel an emotional trigger whether about a personal or collective judgment, I just ‘chant’ internally “I love you. I’m sorry. Please forgive me. Thank you.” until I can feel the trigger neutralize. Then I am in a place to send loving energy to whatever to the source of the trigger.
I also get out in and appreciate nature daily, journal and do a bit of yoga and centered breathing. Of course, I do daily gratitude for all the wonderful things in my life, big and small and the wonderful people.
Is there a book you would recommend and why?
There are numerous helpful books available with more being released daily. The book I would recommend because I’m most familiar with it is my book: Empowering the Spirit: A Process for Activating Your Soul Potential. It gives the Western reader numerous tools for assessing areas of growth still to be addressed, for quieting the ego while learning to listen more and follow Spirit as it comes through our own soul. It also provides many ideas and images for envisioning a new Aquarian Age world.
Judith, thank you so much for taking time to respond. Your wisdom is appreciated. I would also recommend working with your book and value the practices you shared. Peace.
