4th Edition with Astrologer Sabrina Monarch. This series publishes thoughts from soul-oriented practitioners including Evolutionary Astrologers. In this way, we are promoting astrologers & healing crafts, as well as, diverse ideas.
This edition features an astrologer, who posts thoughtful astrology articles with beautiful and evocative images. I was exposed to her on Facebook, and have not met her elsewhere — that I know of — at least not in this life.
Sabrina Monarch has an excellent understanding of Evolutionary Astrology as taught by Jeffrey Wolfe Green. She incorporates the foundational philosophy of his work within her responses to our current questions yet expresses her own personal wisdom without reservation.
Our intention in this series is to dissect our current world climate and share how individual practitioners support their clients and themselves during apparently troubling times. Secondly, we encourage listening or reading material that expresses views that are not our own.
Several years ago, I went to a talk by a modest, spiritual elder from Ontario, Ron Chapman, who passionately advised learning about what we disagree with or don’t know. In doing this we not only support our evolution, but broaden our knowledge and options, our creativity and our connections with others.
Quality of life can instantly improve when just the right string of words impact us at just the right time— similar to the divine timing of astrology.
Welcome, Sabrina Monarch, to Scorpio Moon Asks.
How, as an Evolutionary Astrologer, would you approach a client who is having trouble coping with what is going on in the world? Alternatively, could you say something about ‘what is going on in the world’? Why does the climate seem more troubling now than previously?
One of the consistent through-lines of Evolutionary Astrology is empowerment, and as a body of knowledge, it has really tuned my awareness to see the inner and outer realities as always being in a dynamic conversation. In Western culture (which I’m most familiar with, having been brought up on the west coast of the US), I think we are highly conditioned to be focused on the collective “reality”, and as a result our personal center of gravity is diffuse over various things, people, conditions, and circumstances.
We often give away our power and agency to external conditions; we can feel our emotions based on how things appear to be, rather than to generate our own experience and therefore create/affect the outer reality.
While many other spiritual systems can arrive at the same point, EA has been the teaching that’s lit my fire. It has really shown me that the exterior reality changes when the interior one does.
If I had a client who was having trouble coping with the outer world, I would want to guide them back to the contents of their own soul. When connected to soul, not only do we feel more solid in our own being, but we feel more courage to be a member of the world as well – we have more clarity on our path and direction, rather than feeling lost at sea.
On an esoteric level, being connected to the Soul gives people more power, and their frequency, at that point, can more readily alter the collective for the better.
What is going on in the world, that I’ve been focusing on lately, is the degree of mobility that many cultures have because of the age of information. Someone who may have been the village outcast in a previous life now has the ability to make friends all over the world online based off of a niche interest. Someone struggling to find spiritual connection might find answers over the internet. Many people afford the privilege to travel.
Now that we have so much information on our hands, the next phase is about learning how to discern and make the most of the resources that we have. We can always generate more information and more reason to validate our cynicism or our fear. The internet, in the spiritual pockets at least, is full of a concept we’ve all heard about — “positive thinking”, toward teachings about altering your vibration from Abraham Hicks or Bentinho Massaro.

The Internet: “…you can access information that changes your life, every day if you wanted to.”
The internet, like a function of Uranus, reminds me of the various matrices we find in our realities. At this time, many people have the power to hop matrices because of the exposure to so many different ideas and ways of thinking. By this I mean, this is an age where you can access information that changes your life, every day if you wanted to.
You can go from being culturally conditioned to opening Pandora’s Box. You can go from being worried and concerned about money all the time to entering an abundance-focused matrix and generating new thinking about money and see your reality shift around ss.
There is a lot of information out there. People are promoting it and making it digestible because they are using the internet as a platform to elevate consciousness.
Reality has been troubling for humanity for ages. Where we are today is not necessarily the worst that it has been. Like any time period, at least according to the normal bounds of space and time, we view our present crises without knowing their future resolution; we have anxieties. We have a constant onslaught of information about what is wrong, and vicarious trauma is readily accessible.
For spiritually-inclined people, we may work to not “bypass” reality, yet still decondition or transcend enough to gain spiritual clarity. We have to keep going between worlds. The challenge is staying aware and informed of the currents of what is happening, without becoming disempowered. That’s a practice, and resilience.
How do we transform the shadow of spiritual living where white people ignore things like systemic racism? We’re aware of our own potential for extinction and our challenge is discovering how we fit in to help the situation.
This requires, in my opinion, both a sense of spiritual centeredness/connection and the will to participate in one’s dharma. Spirituality can be a commodified cul-de-sac. There’s something sterile about that – the real purpose of it is to share.
What inspires you about the current world climate?
What inspires me about the current world climate is that it has the potential to shock people awake. The election of Trump was like a cultural trauma. Many didn’t think it was possible that he could or would win, and then he did. It inspired the individuation and vigilante spirits in people. Where we had a passive placeholder of “the government will take care of it”, we no longer have that kind of security – which on some level of reality, has always been a false security.

Pluto in Capricorn 2008-2024
We are in the age of Pluto in Capricorn, which is about the deepest kinds of soul accountability and responsibility! While one phase of this journey can be around feeling totally jaded and betrayed by political reality, it is also inspiring people to recognize their own power and the ways that it exists, regardless of how we have been conditioned to disconnect from it.
Along with Pluto in Capricorn, we are being asked to discover the ways that we project our unconscious and soul contents onto authority figures and institutions. We are realizing our own inner-authority, and I think it challenges our deepest conventions about how reality functions.
Is there a practice or something you personally do, that you want to share, for easing the pain of a troubled Soul?
Oh gosh… there’s a lot! I read once that Neptune in Capricorn people (which I am) may radiate a sense of hope which is actually chiseled out of deep reserves of empathy for despair. My emotions have always been intense and in my early twenties I had to learn how to get a hold on it because I saw that my intense emotions had consequences.
After a variety of mystical experiences and help from guides of all kinds, what I keep returning back to is that there is a difference between my Soul (my deeper self) and my current incarnation and its ego. My practice is to put the two in conversation all of the time.
I have had karmic lessons around emotional self-reliance. While its tides shift and I have breakthroughs around how to receive support from others (because this is important too), I’ve realized that sometimes the depth of holding that I want is something I have to give to myself.
I’ve imagined the kind of care I would want to receive, what words I want to hear, and I self-soothe. 99% of the time, I can feel this change the chemicals in my body… I go from stress/panic to relaxation and access revelations and insights. The times it doesn’t work, I know I’m in emotional emergency, and I get help from someone I trust. That being said, I also regularly access the advice and healing work of other practitioners, because it inspires me and expands me past my own limitations.
Is there a book you would recommend and why?
For people into Evolutionary Astrology, I’d recommend The Soul Speaks by Mark Jones. He’s brought up a lot of points that are empowering for our community, by introducing basic therapeutic concepts and how they can work within the astrology reading. Some things I took away from it are that part of being a soul worker (or therapist/counsel of some kind) is not getting lost in the role that you are playing to the point that you miss out on the field that is created between people in a session.
He wrote about accepting that he would be personally altered by exchanges he had in his work with clients and that touched me – that the soul work goes both ways! He also emphasizes the point that while astrologers may be experts about astrology, the client is an expert about their own life. I took away that we’re not here to use astrology to correct people about themselves. It’s an interpretive, and consciousness-expanding tool – but it’s not for explaining away what is otherwise evident!
We’ll become more lucid and relevant astrologers the more that we are open to a dynamic exchange between the celestial map that we’re trained to read and the lived reality, our own or of our clients. With that spirit, we can collaborate and I think that the insights that come through are truer and more readily digestible than some alienating, forced advice. Anyway – I’m going to go ahead and say it’s a must read for anyone who gives astrology readings.
Any additional thoughts?
I’m a Pluto in Scorpio, Uranus-Neptune conjunction in Capricorn soul who grew up on Harry Potter! 🙂 As my career continues, I’m interested in exploring soulful solutions to various mental health crises. Spiritual awakenings can be pathologized when treated by unsympathetic psychiatric practitioners. I think there is a critical gap here which vulnerable, sensitive people fall into who have not received adequate guidance on how to manage their psychic sensibilities. I’m compelled by examining what systemic causes of mental distress are in our culture and how we can address those, rather than the symptoms.
Sabrina, thank you so much for taking time to respond. Peace.
