This month we’re back to learning more astrology. It is September and the Virgo Sun encourages self-improvement and strategizing what a good reading list for cooler weather (in the northern hemisphere) might look like.
Consider an insightful, engaging guide to discussing the meaning of aspects.
Aspects in Astrology: A Guide to Understanding Planetary Relationships in the Horoscope by Sue Tompkins
When I picked up this book at Banyen Books during a short trip to Vancouver this summer, the pages opened to Mercury/Neptune planetary combination. A new understanding revealed about my obsession with list writing, fluctuating perspectives on truth and time, and why music is an important healing influence for me.
From Amazon’s description of the book, “Aspects are an essential piece of the astrological puzzle when it comes to interpreting and using the information that astrology can give us. It is not enough to know the placement of the planets on the horoscope. It is the relationships between the stars and planets that let us grasp the destiny of the individual. Aspects describe the drama of our lives–the complex configurations that influence what will happen to us over time.”
The book is divided into a section on Principles followed by one of the best Planetary Cookbooks I’ve read in a long time. This is followed by a section on the significance of Planets and the Angles and in-depth descriptions of each connection.
While this book does not have a focus on evolution the way we do at this website, it does offer a good foundation and an engaging read using solid astrological principles.
