Summer Solstice 2015. The longest day of the year.
The Sun enters Cancer at 9:37 A.M. PDT. Cancer is associated with the Mother. How do Mother’s become mothers? Through the merging of both male and female principles. This happens within Nature and we are of Nature. The Summer Solstice is a time to remember and celebrate our unity with Nature.
As I write this, the evening before, I’m remembering that just yesterday there was a report of an earthquake in the Penticton area. Small one. 2.5 on the Ricter Scale. Today, now, we are having strong, fierce winds in the hills and that kind of rain that is stunning, pouring through the sunshine with great gusto and commotion. (Shawnsky Farmer is wanting to take time to practice painting the amazing clouds.)
It’s the kind of weather that resonates with the speed of life. It distracts from contemplation. (Darn that Mars and Mercury in Gemini and bless them for the keeping life mentally stimulating.) What will tomorrow bring?
The Solstice Chart has Jupiter and Venus rising in Leo. Besides extending a heart felt connection to the Natural World, could this be a premonition of increased sense of self-worth this summer or self-aggrandizement? Jupiter and Venus make this a generous chart, but it includes some seriousness, too, with the Moon in Leo and Saturn in Scorpio in a Last Quarter Square at 29 degrees. There is something to complete (the last degrees) and to take responsibility for. With Saturn/Moon, we look to refining our capacity to live in emotional integrity. Managing our habits and patterns, our emotional responses with Saturnian discipline. That may be the reality of the Solstice chart, which has the feeling of fine-tuning how we adapt, care for and respond to family and worldly triggers which set off our own very personal security issues.
We have an opportunity to mature this summer and to have fun, loads of it. A wee bit of Saturnian caution to be careful in spending. Jupiter/Venus in Leo can be overgenerous. The heart energy is big and joyful.
The Venus retrograde is coming up next month, more to explore on self-worth… and resources, and essential needs.
For now, happy transition to Summer and hope you find a way to bring adventure into it where ever you are.
P.S. After this published it occurred to me that Father’s Day is tomorrow, too. That Moon/Saturn square reiterates the pattern of the merging the male and female principles, adding perhaps a look at gender roles with the Moon and Saturn Square this Solstice. The Moon in Leo is in a Yang or masculine energy, while Saturn in Scorpio embraces the emotionally deep, the feminine, Yin frequency.
