February 18, 2017. Last Quarter Moon in Sagittarius.
We’re two weeks away from the next Venus Retrograde Aries cycle.
A friend of mine recently texted me about the correlation to what is going on in her life now and 8 years ago when Venus retrograded in Aries. It led me to look back at my life, too. There were some connections, too, that involved either foreign countries or spiritual matters!
I’m putting together another post with some thoughts about the cycle for each Sun sign closer to March 4. In the meantime, here is a research tool for you and some details about the Venus Retrograde Cycle.
Venus is the planet associated with beauty, love, money and our relations to others and ourselves. In our birth maps, it tells us more about our core values and essential needs. The retrograde cycle offers us time to reflect on Venus and area of our chart the planet retraces.
Venus Retrogrades happen every 584 days, so about every 19.2 months.
Every 8th year, Venus returns to the same sign.
The current Venus in Aries Retrograde cycle began in 1961 and ends in 2057 had 13 ‘hits.’ (I don’t know if 13 is the regular number in these longer cycles.)
- March 1961, 1969, 1977, 1985, 1993, 2001, 2009, 2017, 2025
- February 2033, 2041, 2049, 1957
In between there are 8 year cycles in other signs: Scorpio, Gemini, Capricorn and Leo in that order.
These five signs (including Aries) create a five pointed star. Arielle Guttman wrote a book about this called The Venus Star Point. She talks about this cycle and how to understand the role of it in our lives. There are other astrologers interested in this cycle, like Evolutionary Astrologers, Maurice Fernandez, who has lectured on the Venus Star Point, and Kim Marie at the Evolutionary Astrology Network.
2017 Retrograde. March 4 – April 15. Shadow started January 30. Shadow ends May 18. Other 2017 Retrogrades.
To help with that research, here is a pdf file with all the Venus Retrogrades between 1900 and 2054.
The current 8 year Aries cycle started in 1961 and ends in 2057. These are highlighted in yellow. (For some reason, the last Venus in Aries Retrograde in a longer cycle does not show up on the report. It is in 2057. A comment is added with details at the end.)
Hope that gives you something to chew on. What houses will Venus retrace? Looking at previous retrogrades may jog your memory.
