Mountain Astrologer has a lovely succinct article on Paradigms of Astrology written by Gargatholil, an astrologer I am unfamiliar with, in the most recent magazine. The article is helpful for practicing astrologers, students and those seeking an astrologer, because it describes four ways an astrologer might relate to astrology. Just like with any ‘belief’ for lack of a better word, there can be many valid versions of the truth.
The four he describes (and there may be others) are:
- The Scientific. There are rules. Follow them and you can make accurate predictions.
- The Deterministic. We don’t have free will.
- The New Age. We do have free will.
- The Metaphysical. The idea that free will exists is relates to our level of consciousness.
The author, of course, expands on these dynamics.
With this delineation, we can identify what astrological education might interest us, what to ask astrologers to be sure we find one who suits us, and to create awareness of the astrological paradigms which interest us most.
I have no affiliation with the magazine other than a subscription. The language and study of astrology is so vast that there is always something the sparks reflection. Here’s a sample of what the magazine offers in the latest issue.
